Bruce Walker DC, MPH, DrPH

Bruce qualified as a chiropractor (DC) at the Chiropractic College of Australasia (Melbourne) in 1975. In 1983 he completed a certificate in Physical Therapies at the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago. In 1995 he gained a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a major in Epidemiology from Monash University. In 2003 Bruce graduated with a Doctor of Public Health degree (DrPH) gained primarily by research from James Cook University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. His teaching experience includes the subjects of orthopaedics, physical therapy and biomechanics at PIT in the 1980's (now known as RMIT). He has also taught evidence-based practice and clinical epidemiology to medical students at Monash University and to chiropractors in Queensland on an on-going basis under the auspices of the Chiropractic & Osteopathic College of Australasia (COCA). He has also lectured to general medical practice registrars at James Cook University and to general practitioners in the Townsville Division of General Practice. He currently teaches Evidence-based practice and Public Health. His research publications include 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals, one book chapter, 9 conference papers and 9 posters. He also has published 17 non-peer reviewed papers. Bruce has been involved with research projects worth over $700,000. He is a member of the Australian Epidemiological Association and the Spine Society of Australia. Bruce has been a member of Chiropractic Registration Boards in both Victoria and Queensland. He is currently Editor-in-Chief to the journal of Chiropractic & Osteopathy and a member of the Human Research Ethics Committee at Murdoch University.
