Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) in Chiropractic (Pass)

Course code: B1218

Location: Murdoch International Study Centre-Chiropractic Education Japan (CEJ) Inc. (Tokyo, Japan) (by formal agreement) (language of instruction: English with Japanese translation), Murdoch South Street campus (units with lab/prac components e.g. Anatomy) (language of instruction: English with Japanese translation)
Availability: Internal
Duration: 3 years full-time or part-time equivalent

This course is designed to enhance the learning undertaken by Kansai Chiropractic School (KCS) graduates and has been designed as a comprehensive program of learning modules to be undertaken externally, by residential block teaching and with visits to practical laboratories to address the needs of chiropractic professionals in Japan.

Admission Requirements: All students must have completed three years of professional training at Kansai Chiropractic School and had six months of clinical experience, with at least 20 hours per week practice.

Non-KCS graduates with more than two years of professional training at a chiropractic school and relevant clinical experience can apply for the course upon successfully passing the Murdoch University Entrance Examination.

Special Requirements: Students are required to complete the First Aid and Emergency Care course (pass/fail) prior to graduation.

Professional Recognition: There are no accreditation requirements in Japan for Chiropractic. However the CEJ/JFCP group has voluntarily agreed to seek Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA) accreditation, in order to make it clear that they wish to operate under 'best practice' conditions.

The 5 year on-shore BSc/BChiro course was accredited in September 2006 by CCEA.

Articulation: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for entry into Murdoch University’s Bachelor of Chiropractic degree program either in Perth (required to complete 2 units in Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5) or in Japan (required to complete the sixth to the 11th trimester). To study in Perth, students must meet Murdoch University’s English language requirements.

Main research areas: Chiropractic Science.
