SUMMER SCHOLARSHIPS

 

 

REGULATIONS

 

 

1. The purpose of Summer Scholarships shall be to introduce students to a given field of research and/or study and such scholarships shall not be used to provide casual vacation employment. Students are only allowed to receive one summer scholarship in the course of their undergraduate degree.

 

2.The recipient of the scholarship is enrolled in units in the Division of Health Sciences and has successfully completed the first 2 years of their undergraduate degree.

 

3. The recipient shall have expressed an intention to undertake honours or further research at a later date

 

4. Students are only allowed to receive one summer scholarship in the course of their undergraduate degree.

 

5. The recipient of a scholarship shall be assigned to a project that is connected with or pertinent to the work currently being undertaken in a supervisor’s research program, and for which adequate supervision, guidance and funds are available for the period of the award

 

6. The period of tenure, the benefits to be offered, the nature of the work to be undertaken, the facilities available and the name of the intended supervisor shall be specified in the letter of offer.

 

7. The period of tenure of a Summer Scholarship may be broken in two parts to allow for the Christmas and New Year shut-down period.

 

8. An Executive Dean may terminate a scholarship at any time if the scholar's ill health seriously interferes with the project, or if the work or conduct of the scholar is deemed to be unsatisfactory or the scholar fails to fulfil any other requirements specified in the letter of offer.

 

9. Unless specified in the letter of offer, scholarship holders shall not be required to undertake fieldwork away from the University.

 

10.Within thirty days of the expiry of the award the Head of School requires a scholar to provide a written report of their research project undertaken during the term of the award. This report shall usually take the form of a paper or poster.

 

11. Scholars shall be subject to the Statutes and Regulations of Murdoch University
